New name and other changes for Business and Industry Development Services

The team at Durham College Corporate Training Services (formerly Business and Industry Development Services or BIDS) has made some important changes.

The first and most noticeable is its new name. Durham College Corporate Training Services is intended to reinforce its role as part of Durham College and the resources that are available to its corporate customers as a department of the college. Its mandate is to service the business needs of the community, providing a unique opportunity to bring the knowledge, skills and resources of Durham College to organizations of all sizes and industries.

The second change is the addition of new courses and programs that are focused on assisting organizations in addressing today's business challenges. The team's specialty is the creation of customized solutions to address customers' challenges. The core areas of service to be focused on are in five key areas:

• Management and leadership development;
• Business performance improvement;
• Skills and technical training (trades, safety, forklift, computers, etc.);
• Product excellence and selling skills; and
• Professional services: Video production, e-learning development, testing and administration, needs assessment, and training plan management.
